Plastic Feelings
"Plastic Feelings" explores the internal landfill—the quiet accumulation of emotions we deem excessive, inconvenient, or unworthy of expression. Using reclaimed plastic bags, the piece renders these “disposable” thoughts and feelings tangible, tactile, and uncomfortably present. Feelings that might be dismissed—anxiety, shame, grief, longing—are held here, preserved in a material that resists decay. Plastic, like emotion, lingers.
In this work, the act of crocheting becomes a ritual of validation: what was cast off is gathered, shaped, and given space. Plastic Feelings invites the viewer to confront what they’ve learned to suppress and transform it.
